Duo Accell, founded by Patricia George, offers a rare and original instrumentation : buttons and strings, bellows and bow strokes, wood and steel join, challenge one another and finally agree producing a rich and unique sound.

About us
Patricia George
Patricia George studied accordion and chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with Roger Eggermont and Theo Mertens. She graduated with honors and received the First Prize in Accordion and the First Prize in Chamber Music. Patricia also attended master classes where she was taught by Viatcheslav Semionov, today widely regarded as one of the world's most famous Russian musician and contemporary composer for bayan.
From 1995 she went on a world tour with the production "La Tristeza Complice” choreographed by Alain Platel in collaboration with the production company LOD and Les Ballets C de la B.
Patricia also collaborated with production houses such as Hussaarts & Van Lohuizen, Het Paleis, Laika, BonteHond and Pantalone.
In 2009, Patricia along with Michael De Weert, Sarah Vandendriessche, Tine Van Parys and Bart Zwaan, foundes CIRCACINCO, a place where the sensual, sensitive and distinctive tango music currently comes together. Since 2017 contrabassist Bram Decroix completes CIRCACINCO.
In addition to her work as a performing musician she writes her own music and arrangements for Duo Accell.
She is also active as an accordion and ensemble teacher at the Academy of Art “de Kunstbrug Ghent”.
Artem Shmahaylo
Artem Shmahaylo started playing the cello at the age of 7. He studied at the Kryvyy Rih State Music College with Elvira Zaitseva and obtained his master's and postgraduate degrees at the Lviv State Music Academy with Prof. E. Shpitser, H. Kolessa and Y.Lanyuk.
Artem has worked in numerous ensembles and orchestras such as “Nova Art” String Quartet, “Classic-Modern” String Quartet, Ensemble of Contemporary Music “Pro et Contra”, International New Symphony Orchestra Lviv, Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv”, Symphony Orchestra of Opera Studio Lviv, etc.
In 2003, Artem was awarded the first prize at the International Competition of Young Artists “XXI Century Art”, Kyiv - Vorzel. In the same year he won a special prize at the international competition named after J. Brahms (Pörtschah, Austria) and in 2007 Artem Shmahaylo won the third prize in the III International Competition named after M. Lysenko, Kiev, Ukraine.
He was cellist with the String Quartet for 4 years. During this collaboration he visited more than 70 countries around the world.
In collaboration with the Belgian and Georgian Embassies, he organized a major concert with music by Giya Kancheli (Georgia-Belgium) with Steven Decraene (Belgium) and himself (Ukraine-Belgium) as a soloist at the 20th Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts” in Lviv , Ukraine (2014).
In November 2015, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Ukraine and the ambassador Luc Jacobs, the project "Classic for Peace" was organized at Kiev National Opera House, where Artem played the concerto "Pour Isabel" for cello and orchestra by Dirk Brossé with Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra INSO-Lviv conducted by the composer himself.
Since July 2023 he plays in Duo Accell with Patricia George.
